Star Wars fan professor repaints observatory in R2-D2

Hubert Zitt, a professor at a German university in Zweibrucken, became famous for his performances based on the alien novels Star Trek and Star Wars and realized his intergalactic fantasy. With the help of a couple of friends and several of his students, he turned the university observatory into a huge robot R2-D2. Now the building, owned by the Association of Natural Sciences, is like two drops of water similar to the hero of the cult saga.

A fanatic from Star Wars, the scientist carried out his eccentric project six months ago, with the assistance of the painter Klaus Ruffing, the father of his wife Horst Helle and several students. Now fans of a science fiction story around the world call him their hero.

It is worth noting that this work, although very impressive, can not be considered the first of its kind: 9 years ago, the Carleton College Observatory in the USA was also transformed into R2-D2.

Despite the fact that Hubert Zitt is known for his careful study of the aforementioned science fiction story, he did not begin at all with a space theme. Initially, Zitt studied electronic technology at the University of Saarland, where he became a doctor of science. Today, the scientist is part of the university state, and in his spare time from teaching, he carries popular scientific information to the masses.
