Flouring military coup. A very strange but funny festival!

The tradition of holding the Els Enfarinats festival in Ibi (Spain) has existed for over two hundred years. Annually, during all this time, on December 28, the central square of the city turns into the site of a real egg and flour battle. Residents of the city, dressed in an old military uniform, go to the square and arrange an unusually spectacular battle, using eggs, flour, fire extinguishers and firecrackers.

At 8 am, men in military uniform, only married, gather in a group and organize a “military coup”.

It all starts with the election of a new mayor, as well as the ministers of law and order: judges and police. They punish all rebels with an "incorruptible and fair trial."

By dinner, the "opposition" is joined by "opposition", armed with a huge number of eggs and flour. For greater effect, firecrackers and fire extinguishers are used. The goal of the "opposition" is to overthrow the existing government.

In turn, the mayor, together with his entourage, are trying to defend themselves. This is where the most epic and impressive part of the festival begins.

At 5 o’clock in the evening the battle ceases and the time of ceasefire comes, after which everyone begins to celebrate, have fun and dance.

Such an unusual, amazing and funny festival, as it were, reminds the authorities that it is chosen by the people and in which case it can replace it.
