Mysterious little hole in the porthole of an airplane

The thing is that the inside of the airplane window serves only for heat and noise insulation. There is an air gap between the inner and outer glass. The inside of the porthole is made of inexpensive plexiglass, it is not at all durable. Therefore, due to the huge difference in pressure (in the air gap between the two glasses and inside the aircraft cabin), fragile plexiglass can burst, and thanks to this small hole, the pressure is compared and normalized.
