Huge waterfalls in the glaciers of the Svalbard Nature Reserve

The name of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago is translated as "cold coast", which fully reflects the climatic conditions of this place. Permafrost, huge glaciers, polar nights and crystal waterfalls resemble the real abode of the Snow Queen.
At the same time, the Arctic cold contributed to the formation of a unique fauna and flora, which fascinates every tourist who comes here with its exquisite beauties.

The magnificence of the reserve is so great that travelers, without fear of frost, put on warm clothes and tend to get here at any time of the year, just to see with their own eyes the incredible natural wonder of this place.

Svalbard is the northernmost part of Norway and one of the points of the Earth closest to the North Pole.

Arriving here, it is impossible not to admire the amazingly beautiful white-blue icebergs, stunning waterfalls and fjords.
Svalbard includes seven national parks, three reserves and fifteen bird sanctuaries.

Over 62 thousand square kilometers of the area, more than half of which are covered by numerous glaciers, are under the protection of people. Their main task is to protect the unique natural world and ecology of the archipelago, as well as to preserve the species of birds, animals and plants living here. Therefore, each of the guests who arrived here must abide by the rules of the reserve and not cause any harm to the local ecosystem: it is strictly forbidden to pick plants, fish and even move large stones.

Speaking about the climatic conditions of this area, it is worth noting that although Svalbard is close to the Arctic Circle, the temperature in winter does not drop below -15 ° C, and in summer it even rises to + 5 ° C.

The ecological situation of this special reserve is such that in the air and soil there are practically no microbes, no dust, no parasites. With the onset of summer, it is light here round the clock and even more so: at midnight the sun shines as brightly as at no other point in the Norwegian state at noon.

Winter also has its advantages, it was at this time that the northern lights began to adorn the sky of Svalbard with the dazzling beauty.

There are a great variety of birds on the archipelago, over a year you can count over 108 different varieties: seagulls, white-chested geese, skuas, dead-ends, guillemots, eiders and other birds.

The animal world is also no less diverse, here you can meet its most diverse representatives, among which are polar bears, deer, arctic foxes, whales, killer whales, seals, walruses, cod, halibut and others.
