By plane

How to get around the city

Buses

Dozens of buses go from the city center to all the beaches on the island. The bus movement system is very inconvenient, as at some stations you need to change trains. Sometimes, due to long stops, the journey takes several hours. One trip costs 3.10 reais, transfers are not paid extra, on average, the road from the city to the beach lasts 35-60 minutes. To some places the path is much longer. If you take a stop that is not adjacent to the main route, the waiting time can reach several hours. Ask your hostel or hotel staff where to sit. There is also a yellow air-conditioned bus (Linhas Executivas) that runs from the main beaches with a direct route to the city center for 7 reais.

Vehicle rental

All beaches and interesting places can be visited by car. You can rent a car on the island and at the airport. You can decide on a car model and price level in advance here. Renting can be expensive (120 reais per day), but it's worth it because you can explore this beautiful island in your own way and have more fun. In the hot season there is a large flow of cars, so the road from the city center to the beach can easily take 2 hours.
