A photoproject about the life of two old women in the Russian outback, glorifying a photographer from the USA

Nadia Sablin is an American with Russian roots and the author of the acclaimed Aunty photo project, for which a couple of years ago in the USA she received a grant for publishing a book, as well as a cash prize and the right to exhibit her own works in the gallery of one of the American universities.

In 2010, Sablin went to visit her two aunts Avelina and Ludmila in a village located in the Leningrad Region to capture their daily life in the Russian outback and introduce it to the world. Old women spend their lives far from urban civilization, without modern heating and water supply. They are drowned with firewood, water is extracted in the well and the necessary clothes are made for themselves. It is not surprising that this project aroused such interest in America and beyond, because there are similar living conditions outlandish.
