Why did dinosaurs survive to the Middle Ages

According to official science, dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous. Scientists still argue about the causes of such a large-scale catastrophe in the animal kingdom, but the version associated with changes in climatic conditions is considered the most probable.

But, according to some researchers, certain types of dinosaurs could survive on the planet and even be contemporaries of people. This is indicated by images of dinosaurs and dragons on the walls of ancient temples or on ancient engravings. Probably, these are fantasies of ancient artists, and possibly images of mysterious living creatures that lived in those not so distant times from us. These unusual facts will be discussed in our article.

Temple of Ta Prum (Ta Prohm), Cambodia

Creatures similar to stegosaurs are depicted on the walls of the Ta Prum Temple, built in Cambodia in the 12th century and included in the Angkor temple complex.

Nile mosaic

Nile mosaic or Palestinian mosaic, dated I century BC. It contains scenes from the life of Egypt during the Ptolemaic era, and the animals depicted on it resemble many ancient extinct reptiles. One of the creatures even has an inscription in Greek - KROKODILOPARDALIS, which literally means Crocodiloleopard.

Sickleheads or Long-necked Lions

Images of the so-called sickles are found in ancient Egyptian culture and tell of creatures with a very long neck and with a lion's appearance. At the same time, attempts are made to tame these creatures - people keep them on a leash.

Dinosaur Nazca

In South America, not far from where strange geoglyphs were discovered, a piece of tissue was found depicting a creature resembling a dinosaur dragon.

Ica stones

Finds with a dinosaur image were discovered in the Peruvian town of Ica. Although the collection that Dr. Cabrera was collecting was declared a fake, it’s still worth mentioning these interesting finds. In addition, convincing evidence of the modern origin of drawings on stones was never provided.

Medieval chronicles

In British chronicles, episodes with dragons are often mentioned. Here are some of them. In 1174, King William knighted John Somerville, gave him the name Scottish Lion, and bestowed the title of Baron Linton. And the reason for this was the killing by John Somerville of a dragon who lived in one of the areas of Scotland. There is evidence that in the English chronicle dating back to 1405, the appearance of a dragon with a long tail and a crest on its head is mentioned. The dragon attacked a flock of sheep, many of which were eaten, and also caused the death of the shepherd. And in August 1614, in one of the English chronicles, a meeting was described with a dragon in the St. Leonard forest in Sussex near the village of Dragon Green (Dragon Green). You can also mention that the flag of Wales depicts a red dragon, which has been a symbol of this part of Great Britain since ancient times.

Of course, all these facts can be interpreted in different ways. But it is possible that in the future there will be irrefutable evidence that some of the dinosaurs roamed the expanses of our planet more recently.
