Why the Chinese wall was not built by the Chinese at all

The Great Wall of China is one of the most famous works of architecture and the most outstanding defensive structure in world history. Consisting of several sections, it stretches over 8,000 kilometers in the northern part of China and is so grand that it can easily be seen on satellite images of the planet. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Great Wall of China is of incredible value not only to the entire Chinese people, who have erected this monumental structure for centuries, but also to the entire world community.

But recently, in the circles of historians and prominent scientists, hypotheses have been increasingly put forward that the Great Wall of China was not built by the Chinese at all, but by their neighbors, just to protect them from the Chinese. Let's try to figure out what these assumptions are based on and how serious the doubts are.

Perhaps the very first thing that supporters of the "non-Chinese" origin of the defensive wall indicate is the location of the loopholes. If the Chinese built the wall for defense against the northern nomadic tribes, then the loopholes should have been directed towards the north, from where the enemies could come. But the loopholes on most of the Great Wall of China for some reason look south, into Chinese territory, and the height of the southern walls exceeds the northern ones. Another unusual fact is the location of some of the surviving stairs, which are designed to hit soldiers on the wall. They are also located on the north side of the military structure.

Another interesting point is the very construction of the wall. It is similar to medieval European and Russian defensive structures, which are designed to protect against firearms. But in the days of Ancient China, and even more so before our era, when, according to official historical science, the construction of the earliest sections of the Great Wall of China began, there were no firearms. Wild nomadic tribes did not also possess such weapons, for the protection of which the wall was allegedly built.

These facts suggest that the people who built this grandiose wall and subsequently used for defense were geographically located on the north side. But if we assume that these were not Chinese, then who then?

Researchers of this issue believe that the wall was built by residents of the country called Great Tartaria. This state is indicated on many European medieval maps. In particular, on the 1754 map of Asia, the I-e Carte de l'Asie, the border between the state under the name CHINE and the territory indicated by GRANDE TARTARIE passes right at the place of the modern location of the defensive structure.

While mysteries continue to accumulate on the origin of the Great Wall of China, official historical science comments on what is happening only as pseudoscientific theories. But the history of mankind knows many examples when innovators were persecuted, and later recognized by the greatest scientists. It is possible that soon new facts will be discovered proving that the Great Wall of China is called so not because it was built by the Chinese, but because it was built to protect it from the Chinese.
