Ten of the craziest residential complexes in the world

Relentless time changes the face of not only people, but also the cities in which they live. Settlements continue to grow, develop, expand, and now instead of a small old house there is a multi-storey giant, a wall-house or a tower, with such an incredible number of apartments that it more likely resembles an anthill, or, to be more exact, a "man-room". Similar buildings can be found in every city, but we will get acquainted with the craziest of them. We present to your attention the 10 greatest and most terrible residential complexes in the world.

Abrax Spaces, Marne-la-Vallee, France

In the postwar years, the largest new buildings in all of Europe were erected in France. Gradually, they grew from new areas to new cities, which is also the Marne-la-Vallee. It is located west of Paris. In the late 70s, a team of Spanish postmodern architects decided to build a large-scale residential complex here.

He was conceived as a certain analogy of the ancient theater - with a palazzo, an arch and a semicircular theater. Of course, all sectors are residential, including the "arch", which houses 20 apartments. The whole complex makes a completely fantastic impression on the viewer, not without reason this place is “chosen” by anti-utopian directors.

Montreal, Alicante, Spain

Built in the early 80s, this residential complex is shaped like a huge ship with many small outbuildings. Despite the name given by the architect himself, the locals immediately christened the complex the Pyramid. From above, it really resembles a flat pyramid. One Spanish newspaper called this place "a corner of North Korea in Spain", this style is so atypical in sunny Alicante.

Residential complex on Mire Street, Pyongyang, DPRK

But this nameless skyscraper was built just in North Korea, in a new rapidly growing area, on the "Scientists Street". The skyscraper was erected in 2016, traditionally timed this event to the birthday of one of the leaders. It stands next to the huge Rügen hotel, which has not been completed for 30 years.

Chang Building, Bangkok, Thailand

Thailand - the birthplace of elephants, apparently, this was what the architect-designer who was involved in this object wanted to remind us of. Zoomorphic architecture is something creepy even by ear. And in this case, it’s also huge: a 32-story building stretches hundreds of meters in length.

Residential complex, Wuxi, China

In China, construction is booming, only specializing here more in business buildings. Meanwhile, residential buildings remain without proper attention, they are "stamped", not really thinking about the exterior. But there are reverse situations, as, for example, this happened in Wuxi.

At the peak of everyday life and uniformity, the architect, as newspapers and foreigners will repeatedly emphasize later, designs a residential complex with broken volumes of buildings in combination with broken facades.

"Triumph of Astana", Astana, Kazakhstan

As you know, the triumph of architecture of the 30-50s is the seven Stalinist skyscrapers in Moscow. But here we are witnessing how bad copiers come to replace talents, who have not even been able to accurately repeat the "swan song" of Soviet architecture. The proportions of the "copy" built in the 2000s were chosen very poorly, a parody of the steeple and the location itself - all of this indicates the unfair work of the builder.

Velasca Tower, Milan, Italy

Growing up in the year 58 in the middle of Milan, this new building shocked many. The architects claimed that they were inspired by medieval castle buildings on this masterpiece, but, in truth, it is very difficult to trace the analogy. Now the townspeople are accustomed to the strange-looking building, and some even claim that this is an excellent example of the architecture of that time.

El Mirador de Sanchinarro, Madrid, Spain

Designed in the 2000s by the Dutch, the building was supposed to "take in the frame" the old district with its homogeneous gray buildings and refresh it. So did the officials who financed the case. But the result was not quite as expected. It’s difficult to see the “frame” in this, but the giant cubes are quite.

False Hills Residential Complex, Beihai, China

This large-scale residential complex is located in the resort area and is amazingly beautiful at first glance. However, over time, a strange feeling begins to creep in - here he is, an anthill. And people live in it like ants. Russian, with their love of space, it is very difficult to accept.
