Although tsunamis most often occur due to earthquakes, it’s not a fact that when you feel the earthquake on the seashore, you will have time to hide from the wave: multi-meter tsunamis can move at speeds up to 800 km per hour. Add to this the general panic and you get a terrible picture that repeats itself from time to time - both in Indonesia and in Japan.
