50 people crocheted giant lights for Singapore Bay for two months

Remember the times when crocheting could have carried away perhaps your grandmother? We hasten to inform you that in the modern world everything has changed. Now this type of weaving has become more impressive and fashionable. It is so relevant that it even adorned the stunning famous bay in Singapore.

A team of 50 people spent two months twisting double braided polyester yarns to create this trio of fixtures that interact with natural daylight and glow at night. Each of them reaches about 17 m in circumference and almost 100 kg in weight.

The idea of ​​a work of art is to disrupt everyday life. “At the sight of soaring and glowing lace objects against the backdrop of magnificent skyscrapers and dark water, people will stop and watch. This momentary pause in the mundane routine of our lives, we hope, will give us the opportunity to find poetry around us,” say the creators of the installation, the creative team of Choi + Shine Architects.
