Where and what do the Balinese "furists" eat or Jamie Oliver's nightmare!

In road trips in Europe, I have long noticed that on the road it is guaranteed tasty, inexpensive and without health consequences, you can have a meal where the truck drivers stop. These guys will not take risks and will only have lunch in proven places.

During my trip to the distant Indonesian island of Bali, my wife and I decided here to test similar catering establishments for local furists (not to be confused with tourists!). And, believe me, we got a lot of impressions! Take a look for yourself!

Of course, for the correct test you need to leave as far as possible from tourist places and resort areas. The island is rather big and so far there is enough room for everyone - and numerous tourists from all over the world, and Asian migrant workers, and local residents.

There are even several multi-lane routes, although the main part of the island looks like a messy anthill. It was along one of the main roads, somewhere about 50 kilometers from the capital of the island of Denpasar, that we stopped in search of food service for drivers.

Along the road there were many trucks. It was just lunch time. The road was located in close proximity to the sea. Right along the beaches with black sand, unattractive to tourists, there were many small booths with rain coverings. Leaving our car on the site, we headed to one of them.

The menu was not here. Everything you could have a bite to eat in this impromptu cafe was visible even so. We took two main and only dishes, not even realizing what we would eat. We are located right on the floor on a small elevation under a wooden canopy behind a small plastic table. Convenient - ate and you can immediately sleep!

The general wretched atmosphere was brightened up by ocean views and completely empty beaches. Romance!

They brought us something in between the soup and the hot pasta, meat balls, fried tofu cheese and boiled egg suspiciously black. Surprisingly, this street cooking was very tasty and satisfying. Just what you need for a simple working person and an uninvited traveler. Yes, and the price did not exceed one and a half dollars for two. The choice of the furists was right!

However, I note right away: in Bali, we have never had a problem with digestion. The food here is mostly fresh and healthy. And we ate in very different places.

I remember this casual lunch somewhere on the edge of the world. There was something about him that made this island a little more understandable and intimate. Of course, there were many other lunches and dinners in sometimes very original locations. Just recall the village of Jimbaran, famous for its fish restaurants right on the seashore. Tourists here are dark, and you choose dinner directly from still living fish from transparent containers with water. It was also a very romantic dinner in its own way.

But you must admit, it is always much more interesting to try what the simplest people eat. And if fate abandons it to the ends of the earth, do not disdain to find such a plain place there. After all, the only way you can feel for yourself all the charms of wandering around the far edges ...
