10 photos showing all the horror of Tokyo rush hour

German photographer Michael Wolf, who lives in Tokyo, invites you and I to look at the capital of Japan through the eyes of an ordinary local resident who every day makes his way to work and home. And, as you yourself will now see, the sight is truly terrible!

For the first time, Michael drew attention to the incredibly crowded Tokyo subway back in 1995. Since then, he spent years heading into the subway with his camera to photograph people stuck in this claustrophobic nightmare.

The result was a series of photographs of Tokyo Compression. In addition, the author of the pictures could not restrain the emotions of what he saw over the years: “These people are clinging to the walls as more and more people squeeze in. You live like a sardine, it's horrific. It's not a decent way of life. Very reminiscent of a trip to hell. "
