These 100-year-old photos show what traditional hairstyles were in Rwanda.

You probably think that your hairstyle looks pretty pretty, but believe me, this is nothing compared to Amazuntsu. This is a traditional Rwandan hairstyle that was once worn by men and unmarried women to demonstrate to potential fans that they are single and are of marriageable age.

Such a hairstyle was created by cutting the hair from the side towards the center, while the remaining hair during the regrowth formed complex crescents, as you can see in these vintage photographs. Rwandans have mastered more than 30 different options for this haircut, but today, alas, it is not so common. Rather, it is even a rarity.
