High birth rate phenomenon in the Far North

13,000 people live in Anadyr, and about 500 children are born every year in the maternity ward. The city is no longer empty buildings and free housing. At this pace, the capital of Chukotka will soon catch up with Moscow in terms of quality of life.

The city is very "young". Young people or parents walking with children are much more common on the street than single men with a bottle of beer. At each entrance there are several strollers and children's bicycles.

Naturally, in order to maintain the parental boom, the city must have good infrastructure. This is what will be discussed in this post. Under the cut, a story about hospitals, schools, kindergartens, fitness centers (yes, there are such places in Anadyr), houses of pioneers and other social programs ...

Let's start with the hospital - its building is probably the largest in the city. It is new and built specifically for the regional hospital.

For a long time it was considered the best in the North, until Yakutsk built its own medical center.

The hospital has 3 fully equipped operating units, plus a dental operating room (I didn’t even know that there are such).

The operating rooms have all the necessary equipment, including anesthesia machines, an artificial kidney, and even some very expensive device for eye surgery. The doctor said that he stands, like all other devices combined, and if you say that this is a device from Bausch & Lomb Stellaris, then experts will understand.

Special bed for burn patients. Under the sheet is sand and a fan. When the patient lies on this bed, air is inflated inside, he soars above the sand and it is not so painful for him to lie.

Children's department.

Maternity.

There are even special heated cots for premature babies.

There is one school in the city, but there are a lot of classes in it. In parallel, there can be up to 9 classes on the stream, that is, 1A, 1B, 1B, 1G, 1D, 1E, 1ZH, 1Z, 1I.

Now the guys are preparing for a trip to the Presidential Games in Crimea. They will participate for the first time and are very worried.

Already made a form. The teacher so far gives it out only for photographing when correspondents arrive, and then collects it back.

If there is one school in the city, then there are a lot of kindergartens (it seems, five units).

All are renovated.

A small kindergarten for 30 people. There are only 2 groups. For indigenous (as the Chukchi and Eskimos are called here) kindergarten is free.

There are flowers in the toilets.

The beds move out during the quiet hour like drawers in a closet.

Famous throughout the country Anadyr Palace of Children's Creativity (DDT).

About the Palace of children's creativity in Anadyr should be said separately. It was built in 1974, then called the Palace of Pioneers. Funds for the construction of the Palace were collected during the labor operation "Chukotka", which was carried out by pioneers of the entire Soviet Union in 1969-1974.

The All-Union operation included labor landings, subbotniks and Sundays on sponsored collective farms and state farms, and enterprises. The collected money was transferred to a special account marked "Operation -" Chukotka "."

Construction began on February 19, 1972, and on August 24, 1974, the Palace of Pioneers was inaugurated. The four-story building housed dozens of clubs, a concert and sports hall, a winter garden and a chess club, and a library. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of pioneer organizations of the Union republics and regions of Russia.

A year ago, DDT was completely repaired and now inside it shines with all the new ones.

There is only one pool in the city, however, it only works in winter, when the heating season begins in the city.

Auditorium.

Separate fitness center building.

I went here a couple of times. Apparently, fitness in Anadyr is not very popular.

Cinema is the center of attraction of all city life. At first, the townspeople didn’t really like going to the movies, especially when they had to pay for tickets, but they gradually got used to it, and now the full hall is going to the premieres.

The most remarkable building in Anadyr is the House of Culture, combined with the museum of local lore. It is built in the shape of the face of a polar bear.

The museum is interesting and rich in exhibits.

Technically advanced. For example, here you can lie on the couch and watch movies about polar bears on a huge screen.

House of Culture.

There are only two hotels in Anadyr. They are not enough for all visitors, so, for example, I had to rent an apartment.
One hotel is called Anadyr, but locals call it Canada because it was built by Canadians according to a Canadian project, from Canadian materials. There are even door handles in both Canadian and American municipal buildings.

The second is called Chukotka. She's better, but also more expensive. A standard room costs 8 thousand rubles.

But the presidential two-room suite, in which the president of Iceland once stayed, costs 28 thousand rubles a day.

Hotel staff said they rent it out every couple of months.

In general, I repeat again - I really liked the city. This is a living example of the fact that if you take care of the city and create favorable conditions, then the inhabitants in it will begin to multiply intensively. And this is not only because of the long polar nights ...
