A woman discovered a possum on the highway and decided that the animal was dead, but ...

Judy Obregon was visiting her mother-in-law when she saw an opossum on the road that seemed dead. Suddenly a tiny creature looked up. Approaching him, the woman saw that she was a female and she was not only seriously injured (probably someone had shot her), but she was also pregnant.

“I knew I couldn't just leave,” Judy says. She put the possum in a box and took it to her mother-in-law's house, where she called Tabata, a wildlife rehabilitologist. “She didn't try to bite me,” the rehabilitologist says. “She knew that I was here to help, not hurt her. I think she has great chances.” The female was very scared and snuggled up to Tabata's husband in search of safety.

“Saving the possum is not one of my usual routines because I usually save dogs and cats,” says Judy, founder of the Texas Animal Rescue Center. “It's unusual for me, but that's no reason not to do it. She's also an animal with beating heart, she was alive when I approached her. " When the animal recovers, it will be released back into the wild, into a special area where hunting is prohibited.
