The most amazing bridge in the world is Magdeburg!

At first glance, this is similar to the intersection of two rivers. In reality, in the pictures you see a very unusual Magdeburg bridge. Its most important difference is that it is water.

This means that instead of the usual cars, boats, yachts and barges move along this bridge connecting the Srednegermansky and Elba-Havel channels. Its length is 918 meters, of which 228 m is located above the water, and the remaining 690 m is above land.

The construction of this bridge, which began in 1930, was frozen during World War II and was completed only in the early 2000s, cost about 500 million euros.

Before this miracle bridge appeared, ships had to make a loop 12 km long to get from one channel to another. In addition, so that the loaded vessels would not run aground, their cargo was transferred to the barge that accompanied them to the Elba-Havel canal. Here the cargo was returned back. Magdeburg bridge solved all the problems with movement in these reservoirs.

Today, there are even pedestrian and bicycle paths on the bridge, which makes it possible to observe unusual traffic from a short distance.
