Kyoto is the capital of the prefecture of the same name in Japan. The city located on the island of Honshu is considered part of the metropolitan area of Keihanshin along with Osaka and Kobe.
During the Second World War, this beautiful Japanese city miraculously avoided large-scale destruction, as a result of which the pre-war cultural heritage of Kyoto has survived to the present day.
At the same time, Kyoto is called the center of culture and art of Japan and the main tourist destination in the country. There are numerous Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, magnificent palaces and picturesque gardens. Among the destinations most sought after by travelers are the Emperor’s Palace, Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji and Emperor Katsura’s Villa.
