The photographer in his works presents how he sees our world in terrible dreams

Each of us has our own fears, which from time to time appear in our dreams and fantasies. John F. Novotny, a photographer from Germany, who took his first steps in this field at a very early age, at the age of six, is not without such phobias. From childhood, filming was an important part of German life.

Recently, the world has stirred up his project DrOWNing SKYs - pictures that convey the atmosphere of either terrible dreams, or creepy films about the end of the world, in which flight always turns out to be beyond the limits of the possible. In Novotny’s photos, flooded landscapes appear before our eyes and tsunami scenes unfold. The photographer himself admits that in this way he is saved from intrusive frightening pictures in his imagination. Photographing and processing images, during which he imposes images of the all-absorbing water element on his own photos, has become a kind of therapy for him. Novotny travels the world, trying to capture picturesque views and then turning them into terrible scenarios that his imagination throws to the photographer.
