Know where you are standing!

Photographer Seth Taras, as part of an advertising campaign for the television channel The History Channel, implemented an amazing idea. Since each place has its own story, he decided to combine the past and the present in one shot - old documentary photos and modern shots. Thus, he sent his viewers on an incredible time travel. Taras called his unique project “Know Where You Stand”. The advertisement is so impressive that it can be reviewed again and again!

Lakehurst (New Jersey, United States)

The photo combines the pictures taken in 1937 and 2004. In the modern frame, a man walking a dog does not even imagine that many years ago the famous Hindenburg airship crashed in this very place, killing 60 people. The tragic crash occurred after landing another transatlantic flight. Only 35 out of 95 passengers escaped.

June 17th Street (Berlin, Germany)

Photo combined frames from 1989 and 2004. If a man talking on the phone could turn back and see the past of this place, the Berlin Wall would appear directly in front of him, behind which there was once another world.

Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer (Normandy, France)

In a modern photo taken in 2004, a woman peacefully looks for shells with her daughter. But on June 6, 1944, American soldiers landed in the same place.

Chaillot Palace (Paris, France)

Both of these shots were taken on the terrace of the Chaillot Palace, only at different times: in 1940 and 2004. Perhaps, 64 years ago, this young couple could not rest so relaxed, because Adolf Hitler would have stood behind them.
