A shot of a lifetime: lightning and a rainbow in one frame

For 7 years, Greg McCown tried to capture lightning and a rainbow in one photograph. This spectacular sight, which was once lucky to see a 42-year-old real estate agent on the way to work in Arizona, made such an indelible impression on him that he realized that someday he should take a picture of it. And in the end, luck smiled at him!

“The usual SLR is enough,” says McCown, “but this is not an easy task, because you need to guess where the lightning will strike.”

“Our reaction, when we see the lightning and press the button, is not fast enough,” the photographer says. “Therefore, I used a special trigger that is installed at the top of the camera. It captures lightning and the shooting mechanism fires.”
