A magic hat for athletes, which when struck turns into a durable helmet

Many winter sports are quite traumatic, so a special helmet is provided to protect the heads of snowboarders, skiers and other speed enthusiasts. But this is a rather bulky and heavy device, for this reason many lovers and even professionals prefer the usual knitted hat. Of course, this is more comfortable, but it does not protect at all in the event of a fall. To solve this problem, scientists have developed a hat with amazing properties.

It may seem strange, but a hat for protecting skiers was created in Australia by scientists from the University of Queensland. In this country, in addition to deserts, salt marshes and thickets of evergreen eucalyptus trees, there are quite high mountains, where in the winter you can have a great time at the ski resort. This is where the unusual invention of scientists comes in handy.

At first glance, the innovative hat is no different from the rest. The top layer consists of a moisture-absorbing synthetic material, and the inner one is made of comfortable fabric with a high content of natural components. But between them, scientists placed what should save the athlete in the event of an unexpected fall. This is an isolated layer with a mixture of substances that has the properties of a non-Newtonian fluid. This unusual liquid has an incredible ability: in a calm state, it has the properties of a liquid, and with a strong external effect, its viscosity increases and it acquires the properties of a solid. It is this property of the fluid that the developers of the new cap for skiers are proposing to use, which should soon go on sale.
