A talented local photographer shows the world what it means to live in Zanzibar
Ashraki Moussa Machano became famous as a talented photographer in Tanzania and beyond. With the help of Ash Gallery, a project he founded in 2013, Machano documents the rich culture of his native land. Not limited to wildlife photography, which certainly attracts all tourists in Tanzania, the photographer creates wonderful portraits, street shots and architectural photos.
Together with other Ash Gallery photographers and videographers, Machano hopes to show tourists and locals those sides of Zanzibar that are often left unattended. The photographer explores the streets of Stone Town, the historical part of Zanzibar. As a Zanzibar man, he brings a unique perspective to his every shot and shows a diverse vision of Africa, which is often difficult for outsiders to understand.
