“Disposable” stadiums: what will happen when the football festival ends

Skeptics "burns" not from scratch. In the past, there were many examples when the sports infrastructure turned out to be “one-time”. For example, in Sarajevo and in Athens after the Olympics. What will happen to the facilities built for the mundial in Russia after this very championship?

All over RuNet again crying and moaning. Clearly, everyone cares. Valery Gazzayev, a well-known football coach, even though he looked like a fool, asking a question on the “straight line”, raised the right topic. How will the World Cup infrastructure be used AFTER the holiday ends?

Indeed, often after the World Cup and the Olympics, sports facilities remain unclaimed and deteriorate. And Olympic Sochi against this background in the world is more likely an exception. I myself was pessimistic, but the facilities in Sochi are still actively used (including for the World Cup, by the way!), And it does not look like it will end soon: the Fisht Olympic Stadium, for example, was adapted for football, and now he will host championship matches. That is, the country has positive experience. Only now "at stake" is not one city, but several at once.

Putin replied to Gazzayev that the facilities built for the mundial would definitely pay off - they would become the basis for the development of sports in Russia. After the championship is over, the organizing committee will transfer everything to the ownership of the regions, and a lot will depend on their leaders.

“In no case should we allow markets to arise there, as it was in Moscow in the mid-90s. Such a development of events is categorically impossible,” stressed the president. - Stadiums built and reconstructed for the World Cup should be used in their main profile. Athletes must have access to them. ".

The championship, although it was a formal occasion, but very well pushed the regions to modernize. After all, there are not only stadiums. For example, in Nizhny Novgorod, they built an excellent base from scratch, where they settled in Uruguay, and then, after the World Cup, there will be determined domestic football players. We spent a new avenue from the airport to the city - it will not go anywhere either. Built the metro station "Strelka". And this is only one city, and there are several of them.

Or do you think - money down the drain?
