30 impressive old photographs of 19th century Indian inhabitants and architecture

India is one of the most colorful and recognizable countries in the world. Those who have visited there at least once admit that it is impossible to forget this hurricane of colors, smells, sounds, textures and faces. But India is also a very ancient state with a rich history. Today we show you photographs taken in the 19th century by an Englishman who fell in love with the crazy Indian world by the name of Samuel Bourne.

Bourne arrived in Calcutta in 1863 and soon, together with two other British photographers, founded here one of the oldest photo studios in the world, which only ended two years ago. Today, most of the photographs taken by studio photographers are in the collections of the legendary British and American museums and libraries, as well as in the National Geographic archive.
