Expensive and rich: crazy architecture of the capital of Kazakhstan

Expensive. Richly. Sloppy. This is how one can characterize the appearance of the modern capital of Kazakhstan. Astana began to develop at an unprecedented pace in the 90s, in fact, a completely new capital city of Astana was built on the site of the Soviet provincial town of Tselinograd. They built with chic and brilliance, more expensive and richer, so that there was something to brag about for visiting tourists.

In the center of modern Astana they like to build wide avenues, large and shiny buildings.

Sometimes it may even seem that some gigantic child scattered a bucket with sparkles and therefore now the whole city glistens. More glass, more shine! The city center is filled with some kind of crazy architecture.

Here everything is at once. The building is in the Chinese style, the building is "Moscow", there is also the building "St. Petersburg" nearby.

Kazakhstan positions Astana as a modern and rapidly developing city, foreign visitors are brought here and large international events are held. In 2017, Astana hosted the international exhibition EXPO 2017. Here, they are very proud of this event.

More than 100 companies took part in the International Architectural Competition for the best sketch-idea of the EXPO-2017 exhibition complex. The winner was a company from Chicago Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The central object was the eight-floor sphere "Nur Alem", and around 14 buildings - the pavilions of the participating countries.

In the very center of the city, a huge Baiterek monument was erected, a symbol of the transfer of the capital to Astana and the main symbol of Kazakhstan. "Baiterek" with its location and compositional structure expresses the cosmogonic representations of the ancient nomads, according to the legends of which the World River flows at the junction of worlds. On its shore, the Tree of Life rises - Baiterek, holding the ground with its roots, and supporting the sky with a crown.

“Baiterek” means a young, strong, growing tree, symbolizes a state that has retained its historical roots, has strong support and aspiration for future prosperity. The height of the monument along with the ball is 105 meters, the diameter of the golden ball is 22 meters.

Inside the golden ball is an observation deck (absolutely uncomfortable and meaningless), as well as the handprint of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Two golden cones! But because they can afford!

The new residence of the President of Kazakhstan, built in 2004, immediately fell into the list of the most beautiful presidential palaces in the world. The palace was built opposite the Baiterek monument on the left bank of the Ishim River.

The building is made of cast concrete. Its height, together with the spire, is 80 m. The facade is clad in Italian marble with a thickness of 20 to 40 cm. The building consists of five elevated floors. The total area of the building is 36 720 square meters.

It is especially beautiful here on moonlit nights.

And this is a small part of the House of Ministries, the total length of the building is almost two kilometers!

Kazakhstan built its Dubai.

A huge monument to the egg was erected in the center of Astana. Officially, the egg monument is for some reason called the building of the State Archive of Astana.

Really beautiful and cool dancing fountains.

Skyscrapers in the center of Astana. It is amazing how on the ground floors of these gigantic buildings are located traditional markets, cheburechye and notaries. Most of the apartments in these skyscrapers are equipped for daily rent.

The view from the apartment on the night city. The construction in the center is the future tallest building in Kazakhstan and Central Asia "Abu Dhabi Plaza", by the end of construction it is planned to build 75 floors with a height of 382 meters. The construction of the tower was planned to be completed in 2016. So it goes.
